Dubai Metro

In my 5yrs of stay in Dubai, i never really learned how to use the public transportation since my office is a bit far from the city. I was riding with my officemate back then and like two yrs ago i got a car of my own. Dubai metro opened in 09.09.09. We tried it in its first few weeks of run. It was a plain train ride and most of the features arent built yet. As for my last bus ride, it was still the token thing. I wasnt aware that these public transports have turned into world class services. After nearly two yrs I have it experience again. I was surprised and was so delighted by it! It looks amazing and the experience is satifying. Dubai have once again created an over-the-top attraction. Something this city can be proud off and boast off to the world. It is crazily high-tech, fully automated mode of transports. It is clean, new, has great facilities, satisfying, all in all awesome!

I'm gonna start with the bus. I went for a ride on the bus featured below. It was from a bus stop situated exactly behind Sahara Mall.
i guess bus as such has humor too it says "BREAK TIME"
First of all, you gotta have a NOL card. It is a SmartCard that enables you to pay for various transport services here in Dubai. Upon entering and before leaving the bus you have to tap it. A bus ride cost very little but it will give you a satisfactory experience you definitely will want to experience over and over again.
There is monitor inside where it shows a very cute &smart advertisement about Dubai
This is a stop button that is to press when you plans to go down. By the way it is super strict here when it comes to loading and unloading of passengers. It will never pick up passengers from somewhere else except to bus stops.

There are special seats for women and children. Men are prohibited to sit on these area.
The seats are glory! i mean it is similar to that of an airplane

The Dubai Metro is driverless, fully automated and has platform edge doors.

and there you go.. my epic pic at Dubai Metro
There it shows the two lines operational at the moment, the Green and Red lines

you see there are also monitors inside
One thing i noticed is that the safety and security measures are so abundant in and out of the metro. Signs of emergency exits and emergency gadgets are everywhere. Just like the picture below where a fire extingguisher is placed inside.

At this time, i am about to get inside the train station. little do i know, it is surprisingly good awesome! it was the most amazing train station i have ever seen in my life.. and the catch is, its not even the most beautiful of stations.
Here is my cousin goin in and taping her nol card. You can also see some dubai securities at the far left

A taste of Dubai Metro Station
When i said it was the most amazing train station.. I am not kidding.. It looks like a museum.
Union Train Station in Deira Dubai near Al Ghurair Shopping Center

Falcon, Camels, Desserts and their National Dress are featured on these walls

The nol card is used as tickets to the trains. The minimum you can purchased is AED25 (Php300). It cost little for a train ride and the beauty of it is that when you maximized your ticket up to AED14 in a day the rest of your ride is free. Dubai Metro closes around 11:20pm during weekdays and 2:00am at weekends

Time to load up our Nol card

Free magazines for everyone

This lift looks like of that in Dubai Airport Terminal 3. These sure are tourists and they sure are delighted with the transport service.

another safety measure

I took a pic of this. it doesnt show much but the wall on the left is stunning upclose
When we are about to get out of a train station, there is walkalator available. Now that is a service.
This is what a train station looks on the outside. It looks like a bee to me but the concept is a "shell". It looks futuristic and it really is.

I find it interesting to watch people from a puclic area like in airports and all. I guess a found a new spot. This is weekend and not rush hour so it doesnt seem busy but according to many during weekdays, its hell crowded.

This is a RTA public bus stand. It is air conditioned. It serves the public well esp. during summer.

It is one hell of an experience for me. I enjoyed it too much. In fact, im planning to do this again sometime over weekend. I feel lucky i am here now in this booming city. It is continiously making a history. In 5yrs, i saw some of the city's development and you can never underestimate its creations. Im an avid follower of Shaikh Mohammed in twitter and I heard him say, his vision for Dubai is to be one if not the best in the world by 2020. With all these developments and all and with good governance from Shaikh Mo he sure knows where he's heading. I wish for the city continuous growth and to continue to serve the public well. Experiencing the above made me appreciate the city more.
